I have an absolutely favorite trick to share with you. Spontaneous dance party. Yes, do it. Feel silly, dance around the office, on the side walk, tap that foot, sway, stand up every time a certain song plays. The point is to bring a little more joy into the world.
My favorite dance party scenario is when I start a spontaneous dance party, my dog joins in (he’s 120 lbs Lab). My husband, having no idea what is going on, overhears the ruckus. He comes running to check it out. There I am, livin’ it up.
Spontaneous dance party + audience = more joy!
You might be thinking, really? I don’t enjoy dancing in front of other people. I hear you, but I bet you enjoy making people smile and spreading joy. I’ve never seen a person who didn’t smile during a dance party. Do not-so-joyful people dance? Help bring more joy into the world. We need it. You want it.
Tip: Tune in for day and facilitate your own spontaneous dance party. Radio, streaming, downloaded, vinyl or satellite might be your thing. My personal favorite is (free) Pandora. I have several stations but my favorites are my Adele and Pitbull stations. Packed full of artists ranging from Timbaland to Florence + Machine to Nat King Cole to Beyonce. I dare you not to smile during Nat singing ‘Smile.’ I dare you not to sing along to Ain’t No Mountain High Enough or adjust your Halo to Beyonce.
